WIRING DIAGRAMS


CONNECTION TO TRANSCEIVERS IS ACCOMPLISHED BY USING JACKS AND INSTRUCTIONS
SUPPLIED BY THE TRANSCEIVER'S MANUFACTURER. DELCOM CAN PROVIDE ONLY THE MATERIALSREQUIRED TO
INTERFACE A DELCOM AIR960.
ILLUSTRATED BELOW IS AN EXAMPLE OF ONE OF THE MORE POPULAR INTERFACING METHODS.
NOTE THAT BOTH MIC AND PHONES USE A SEPARATE GROUND. ALSO NOTE BOTH MIC AND PHONES AUDIO ARE BOTH SHIELDED IN SEPARATE ¡§PAIRS¡¨ THAT ALSO INCLUDE THEIR GROUNDS. THE ¡§GROUNDS¡¨ ARE ACTUALLY THE RETURN PATH FOR THE AUDIO AND PHYSICALLY NOT CONNECTED TO AIRFRAME GROUND.
THIS IS CALLED BALANCED AUDIO AND IF MAXIMUN RESISTANCE FROM INTERFERENCE IS TO BE ACHIEVED IT MUST BE WIRED EXACTLY AS SHOWN.

WIRING DIAGRAM FOR HANDHELD BASIC CONFIGURATION

NOTE: OFTEN A BALANCED AUDIO CONNECTION IS NOT PRACTICAL WHEN JACKS USED ARE
ATTACHED TO AIRFRAME GROUND, OR THE HANDHELDS USED ALLOW A PATH TO GROUND THROUGH THEIR ATTACH POINTS. IF INTERFERENCE IS EXPERIENCED TRY TO ISOLATE ANY PATH TO AIRFRAME GROUND.


GROUND THE SHIELDS ON THE INT2000 SIDE AS SHOWN BUT LEAVE THE SHIELD ON THE OTHER SIDE ALONE. PLACE 1/2¡¨ OF HEATSHRINK OVER THE UNSOLDERED/UNGROUNDED SHIELD TO INSULATE.
PASSENGER¡¦S JACKS ARE WIRED AS BALANCED AUDIO BUT THIS CAN BE EASILY DEFEATED IF THE JACKS ARE MOUNTED IN METAL OR IN A METAL ¡¥JACK PLATE¡¦ THAT IS BONDED WITH AIRFRAME GROUND. THIS WILL NOT AFFECT THE PERPORMANCE OF THE SYSTEM BUT COULD PROVIDE A PATH FOR INTERFERENCE.
IF NOISE PROBLEMS DEVELOP IT IS SUGGESTED THAT PASSENGER¡¦S JACKS ARE ISOLATED FROM AIRFRAME
GROUND. THIS COULD BE ACCOMPLISHED AFTER TRIALS.

THE TRANSCEIVERS MAY ALSO NEED TO BE ISOLATED FROM AIRFRAME GROUND FOR BEST RESULTS.
AGAIN IT WOULD BE BEST TO WAIT UNTIL AFTER TRIALS.

THE INT2000 CASE IS ISOLATED FROM ALL INTERNAL AUDIO AND POWER GROUNDS AND WILL PERFORM BEST WHEN BONDED TO AIRFRAME GROUND.

DO NOT BOND ANY PART OF THE SYSTEM¡¦S GROUNDS WITH THE ENGINE OR NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL (EXCEPT FOR NEGATIVE DC INPUT). THIS COULD DEFEAT THE BUILT IN FILTER.

KEEP AIRFRAME GROUND BONDS AS SHORT AS POSSIBLE AND DO NOT BOND NEAR AN ANTENNA.

 

WIRING DIAGRAM FOR OPIONAL FEATURES AND FUNCTIONS

OPTIONAL FUNCTIONS ARE SHOWN ABOVE. THE FOLLOWING ARE DUPLICATES OF PANEL MOUNTED FEATURES: PILOT'S MIC & PHONES JACKS, PILOT'S PUSH-TO-TRANSMIT SWITCH AND MUSIC INPUT JACK (AUX AUDIO INTERFACE). THESE MAY BE HOOKED UO IF A BETTER LOCATION (OTHER THAN INT2000 FACE) CAN BE FOUND. KEEP IN MIND EXTRA WIRES CAN LEAD TO ADDITTIONAL INTERFERENCE.

SELECT SPEAKER MODE BY SOLDERING JUMPER AS SHOWN. CONNECT ONE JUMPER ONLY. NO JUMMPER DISABLES SPEAKER FUNCTION.

SHOWN ABOVE IS PILOT'S PUSH-TO-TRANSMIT SWITCH WIRED TO PIN 9 AND THE KEY SIDE OF A MICROPHONE JACK. THIS WILL ALLOW THE USE OF A HAND MICROPHONE.


WIRING DIAGRAM FOR ARINC CONFIGURATION

SHOWN ABOVE IS WIRING FOR ARINC TYPE RADIO. ARINC IS A RADIO STANDARD DEVELOPED FOR AVIATION AND PROVIDES A HIGH DEGREE OF COMPATABILITY BETEEN EQUIPMENT FROM VARIOUS MANUFACTURERS.

IT IS POSSIBLE TO WIRE ONE HANDHELD AND ONE ARINC TYPE RADIO TO THE INT2000.

WIRING IS ALMOST THE SAME WITH TWO IMPORTANT EXCEPTIONS:
1. MIC KEY LINES (PIN18 AND 37) MUST BE RUN TO APPROPRIATE PIN ON RADIO.
2. ARINC RADIOS DRAW TOO MUCH POWER TO ALLOW A SAFE CONNECTION TO THE INT2000'S INTERNAL POWER FILTER. WHEN WIRING TO ARINC RADIOS POWER MUST COME FROM ANOTHER SOURCE.
